1999–2000 “In itinere”

In itinere is not a traditional woven tapestry. As Sandro Visca explains, it is a sewn tapestry made through assemblage: an assemblage not only of fabrics, but of different objects.
Measuring 34 metres long and 50 cm high, it was made on a length of cotton and linen cloth, with a selvedge along its upper and lower edges. This particular linen-blend fabric, produced in Torrevecchia Teatina in Abruzzo, is called tela pane because bakers use it when making bread.
