Caccia e Fresca
1969–1972
“CACCIA e FRESCA” is the title of a prank devised and carried out anonymously by Sandro Visca between 1969 and 1972 on a friend from L’Aquila, the hunter Federico Fiorenza.
The gag was planned around absurdity, often childish and surreal, to create laughter and amusement among their many friends in L’Aquila.
Andrea Pazienza, then Visca’s pupil in the Academy Section of the Liceo Artistico in Pescara, took part in the prank from 1971 to 1972. His contribution included numerous drawings by Paz sent to its unwitting target, the direction and production of the newspaper “Caccia e Fresca”, and a series of hilarious poems about hunting.
After lengthy negotiations with Fiorenza through an intermediary, the prank came to an end on 27 December 1972 with a request from Sandro Visca, President of the International “Caccia e Fresca” Federation: a dinner for ten, paid for by Federico Fiorenza, for mutual friends invited exclusively by the President himself, as recorded in the agreement countersigned by the two parties through the intermediary.
At the end of the meal, Sandro Visca, “President of the International Caccia e Fresca Federation”, revealed to Federico Fiorenza that he was behind the prank, which had lasted almost three years. Visca received a cup with a dedicated plaque, while Fiorenza was presented with a commemorative trophy: LA LEPRE D’ORO 1972.
