Installed in 1995, Il grande firmamento is a darkened environment with a floor inclined by five degrees. Fluorescent tempera on the ceiling glows under ultraviolet light, while music accompanies the experience. Designs and construction photographs reveal how this vision of the sky depends on precise physical conditions of space, light and balance.
