Un cuore rosso
sul Gran Sasso
A red sign travels across the mountain. A work in which the landscape of Abruzzo encounters gesture and film.

Landscape becomes action
In 1975 Sandro Visca made Un cuore rosso sul Gran Sasso, an artist’s film shot on the L’Aquila side of the massif. Preparing the object, working together and encountering the mountain form a single narrative. In the photographs, red breaks through the colours of the rock: a fragile, unmistakable presence entrusted to an immense environment.

One project, several forms
The project continues through images and editions: in 1979, a two-colour screenprint in one hundred copies and a hand-produced paper and screenprinted edition of ninety copies. In 1986 it returned as a photographic film with photographs by Giuseppe Iammarrone and music by Ugo Fusco.

1975 · Inside the action
From action to recollection
The camera follows the gesture and the journey; photographs retain its moments, faces and shared labour. From filming on the Gran Sasso to the photographic account, these are two ways of returning to the same action and its encounter with the landscape.
